Yusen Corporate Social Responsibility 2010

Yusen did a remarkable model to uplift not only the kids’ wishes and environment’s welfare but also of its employees’ awareness.  It is never too late to extend a helping hand. As what they used to say, volunteers don’t have the time they just have the heart.

In line with the company’s CSR commitment, following are the programs undertaken for year 2010:

1.  Soup Kitchen Feeding Program (“Hapagkainan ni San Andres”)

In coordination with St. Andrew’s Parish, the program was a huge success. Yusen supported the feeding program that caters about 250 less fortunate kids of the parish. Activities include playing, dancing and singing. The program also highlighted parents/family’s catechism. Very young kids were taught basic math, alphabets and coloring. This activity not only aims the feeding of the physical needs of the body but also of the mind, heart and soul.  The company believes that providing such will be an opportunity to grow in understanding the daily challenges of people living in poverty. Yusen employees came with an open heart and served, played and mingled with the children. Yusen Phils sponsored 4 (four) Saturdays covering Sept and October 2010.

2.  The Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig (October 10, 2010)

Last October 10, 2010, Yusen participated in the major event entitled RUN FOR PASIG RIVER. About 120,000 runners joined the fun-run, with participants coming from different sectors such as government offices, schools, business corporations, and private individuals. Its main purpose is to help clean up, save and restore Pasig River.

“I felt so overwhelmed as people from all walks of life come together for one goal – and that is to save the ilog pasig. A form of exercise in which simultaneously prove that we can be fit and can be of help at the same time. I hope that this would not stop saving the Ilog Pasig in a single run but to continuously run the river for the next generation. I am proud and to have  participated in  this historic event – one nation, one run, one river!”

– Anton de Leon

3. Symphony for the Youth (October 20, 2010)

Last Oct 20, 2010, Yusen Air Sea Service Phils., Inc. in coordination with Rotary Club of Parañaque Poblacion sponsored elementary students of Rivera Village Elementary School and a group of cancer patients of Philippine Children’s Medical Center to “Symphony for the Youth” performed by Philippine Phil-Harmonic Orchestra. About 200 children witnessed a live performance of Philippine PhilHarmonic Orchestra at the Little Theatre, PICC.

What a better way to teach these kids the sounds and symphonies of the different musical instruments. Not only did they listen to the sounds, but they also get to meet the people behind this wonderful event.

4.  YAS CEBU goes Mangrove Planting (October 24, 2010)
