1st by Class NK: NYK-FIL is MLC 2006 Certified
NYK-Fil Ship Management, Inc. (NYK-FIL) became the first manning company in the world assessed by classification society Class NK to be in compliance with the International Labor Organization's Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) of 2006.
The cerrificate and declaration of compliance were personally handed to NYK-FIL by Class NK executives, C/E Takao Kuboki, Certification Service General Manager, and Mr. Kazuyuki Akimoto, Manila Office General Manager, in simple ceremonies held at the NYK-FIL office in Intramuros, Manila on 24 November 2011.
The certification officially recognizes NYK-FIL's conformance to the seafarer recruitment standards set forth in the Regulation 1.4 (Recruitment and Placement) of the MLC 2006 which provides for the comprehensive rights and protection at work for the world's seafarers.
NYK-FIL President Josephine J. Francisco expressed appreciation for the certification calling it another "milestone" in NYK-FIl's history. NYK-FIL is a joint venture of Japanese shipping giant NYK Line and Filipino-owned Transnational Diversified Group (TDG). Since its establishment in 1989, NYK-FIL has emerged as the leading supplier of qualified seafarers to the NYK fleet and among the most successful and awarded local manning companies recognized for quality crewing.
The conferment comes after the renewal audit of NYK-FIL for ISO 9001:2008 last 02-03 November 2011 where Class NK initially declared NYK-FIL's compliance to the Convention.
