    NYK Japan extended aid to the victims of Typhoon Sendong through the NYK-TDG Friendship Foundation (NTFF). TDG handed over NYK's donation to Philippine Red Cross last 2012 March 10 during the 36th TDG Anniversary celebration.

    Present in the turn-over were PRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang, TDG Chief Operating Officer Dan Florentino, Capt. Hisaya Higuchi, PRC Chairman Richard Gordon, TDG Founder & Group Chairman J. Roberto Delgado, TDG Ship Management Division President Josephine Francisco, and TDG Chief Finance Officer Socorro Z. Niro.

TDG thought the NTFF and its Member Companies are regularly involved in various CSR initiatives.  

Children and Youth Development and Educational Assistance Programs - With the Ship Management Division and TDC focusing on this CSR category,  continuous support of  the following long-term CSR projects include:

  • Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) and its scholars
  • NYK-TDG Home for Street Children
  • Missionaries of Charity
  • Asociacion de Damas Filipinas

Another area of focus for NTFF is Culture Preservation.  NTFF continued its support and partnership with the Mangyan Heritage Center (MHC).  MHC continues to be the lone entity in the country that focuses on the eight Mangyan groups heritage and culture. It operates a library, archive and research and educational center in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

 

Calamity Assistance is also one of the CSR areas that NTFF and the Member Companies focus on.  Support has been provided to a number of institutions such as the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Department of Education (DepEd) and UNICEF.
